eBay Follies

It had to happen some time. Bitten by the eBay bug, soon enough the bug would use its teeth.

The HPI Savage I bought has many small problems, but thankfully nothing too major... Problems fixed so far include:
  1. Broken Rotostart (busted electric motor)
  2. Loose exhaust (probably due to Royal Mail, to be honest)
  3. Duff glow plug
And still to go:
  1. Engine leaking from the head (spitting fuel, no doubt reducing compression and sapping power)
  2. Quite a number of missing/broken screws and screwholes with buggered threads
  3. Rotostart engine plate missing 2 out of 3 screws
  4. Engine backplate has broken screwhole for above mentioned Rotostartbackplate (see pic below)

I spent £200 on it originally, and since then I've spent another £60ish. Just a bit of work to go, then. The only bit I'm having trouble with is the damned engine backplate. I've taken a bit of a risk and bought a piece for a similar engine, and am hoping that'll fit fine. Will find out next week, and update the saga... EDIT: Of course it wont fit, what an idiot! Found the right part now, and it's on its way.

Still, it's hugely fun, video evidence here.

Wheeeee!

Tried the slides at the tate modern. Loads of fun, but really doesn't seem like art...

My Drunken Blog

Fri, 11 Jun 2004 22:18:00
I am drunk. This is my blog. I have read a huge number of blogs. The thing that strikes me about these blogs, is that they are mostly complaints. Doesn't seem to matter what the subject is, they are all complaints about something. So this is a complaint against complaints. I can not, despite a large amount of comtemplation, workout why people seem to enjoy complaining so much. Whether something is too expensive, too hot, cold, too difficult to use, too bright, too loud, too cliche, too popular, there is always something that will piss someone off. I really think people should learn to accept things. Or at least the things that they know is unlikely to be changed, like the colour of blue. Anyhow, i am far too drunk to continue this, or even find any kind of point to what the hell i've just said, and i thank anyone for reading. Good bye.
